I have the blueprint and have just started looking for a brick mason again. We don't want to hire a general contractor because they most likely will do nothing but hire a bricklayer and add on costs for being the GC. I wouldn't be opposed to sending it to a GC to compare prices but I'm sure they'll be much pricier. If you have any names and numbers let me know and I'll get a packet to them to price.
The other thing is the garage sale. I'll put the signs out this coming weekend for the homeowners to get ready that the sale is March 10 from 8 till 4. I went to the city today to get the permit and they will no longer issue subdivision permits so everyone needs to go to the building department and get their own permit and everyone is limited to two garage sales per year. I forgot to ask but I'm pretty sure garage sale permits are $1. Ads will run in two papers next week.
Also the city council just announced that April 13, 14, and 15 are bonus days for garage sales....no permits needed and everyone can have a sale for the weekend and it doesn't count as one of the two sales permitted each year.
The Vermont avenue entrance is getting a face lift starting today. We're putting in a bunch of Holly bushes along the chain link fence. We've also run sprinklers to that area so the Jasmine should cover the fence completely and the new bushes will have water to keep them growing. I don't know why there was no water put in there before but its fixed now. Also along where the wall used to be there are many Crepe Myrtle bushes. When you ride by you can see some are big and thriving and some are twigs...we had sprinklers moved around so each one will get water now and that problem will be solved. Also along the front one of the big palm trees is dead, or will be soon. That's being replaced sometime this week. We will not do anything to the center island where the sign goes till we get that sign in and then we'll fix some of the bushes and repair the lighting and sprinklers.
The church entrance is looking pretty good. The other end of Settlers Trail had a bunch of dead bushes and they are being replaced. We're also redoing the bushes in front of the two signs on either side of the entrance.
